Adelaide, Australia - Liebherr-Australia Pty. Ltd., a heavy equipment manufacturer, and Glencore plc., a multinational natural resources company, have entered a new phase of partnership with the signing of multiple agreements for the supply of mining equipment across Glencore’s Australian operations. The agreements cover the delivery of 17 Liebherr excavators across six mining sites in Queensland and New South Wales, with deliveries scheduled through to the end of 2026.

The order includes 10 R 9600s, five R 9400s, one R 9800 and one R 9100, seven of which will be powered by Liebherr’s D9812 engines. To date, seven units have already been commissioned, marking notable milestones such as the first Liebherr machines at Hail Creek in Queensland and Ravensworth in New South Wales, as well as new fleet additions at United Wambo and Bulga.

The deal originated from Glencore’s 2023 group tender and also includes dedicated site support, with embedded Liebherr technicians and operator training to ensure long-term reliability. Further deliveries are scheduled into 2027, expanding the scale of the collaboration.

Glencore’s Hunter Valley operations — Ravensworth, United Wambo, Bulga and Mount Owen — will receive the bulk of the deliveries, totaling 12 machines by 2026. Already, Ravensworth has taken delivery of its first two Liebherr machines (an R 9600 and an R 9400), while United Wambo received an R 9600 and R 9400 earlier this year. Upcoming deliveries include three R 9600s and an R 9400 for Bulga, an R 9800 for Ravensworth, and an R 9100 for Mount Owen.

Support for these sites will be provided by Liebherr-Australia’s Mount Thorley branch, offering technical expertise, proactive maintenance and tailored training.
