Bulle, Switzerland - LIEBHERR-INTERNATIONAL AG., a heavy machinery manufacturer, has introduced the LMD 1200, a new mining dragline designed for demanding raw material extraction in wet and dry mining applications. Built with a strong steel structure, the machine is engineered for continuous operation in harsh working conditions and extreme weather environments.

The LMD 1200 features a flexible boom system that can be configured according to site requirements. It offers a maximum lifting capacity of 30 tonnes at a working radius of 40 metres, making it suitable for large-scale mining projects. The machine can also be fitted with a dragline bucket of up to 12.25 cubic metres and can dig to depths of up to 25 metres.

To improve digging performance, Liebherr has equipped the LMD 1200 with twin hydraulic motors that automatically adjust winch speed based on the required digging force. This helps ensure smooth bucket filling, better material handling and improved operating efficiency.

The machine also includes an advanced fairlead system with a pivoting roller head, rope pulleys, guide rollers and automatic positioning. This design reduces rope wear and improves rope spooling on the drum. A large rope diameter, standard grooving and a new rope lock further extend rope service life while allowing faster rope changes and reduced downtime.

Mobility is another key feature of the LMD 1200. The dragline can be relocated within a mine with the boom lowered, helping operators save time and reduce transport costs. Liebherr says the machine can be assembled or disassembled within one week, supporting faster site deployment.

The LMD 1200 is designed for efficient operation, combining strong engine power with reduced hydraulic pressure to support high handling capacity and lower fuel consumption. A 1,000-litre integrated tank and an 8,270-litre additional tank allow the machine to operate continuously for up to one week without refuelling.

With its flexible boom configuration, 30-tonne lifting capacity, high mobility and operator-focused design, the Liebherr LMD 1200 is positioned as a productive and reliable solution for modern mining operations.
