Liebherr Launches T48-8s 8m Telescopic Handler

Bulle, Switzerland - LIEBHERR-INTERNATIONAL AG., a heavy machinery manufacturer, has introduced the new T48-8s telescopic handler, expanding its range with a model that offers greater reach, increased lift height and strong versatility.

Based on the proven T55-7s platform, the T48-8s features a 550 mm longer telescopic boom, providing an additional metre of lift height and forward reach. The machine delivers a maximum lift height of 8 metres and a maximum load capacity of 4.8 tonnes, making it suitable for loading bulk trailers, hoppers and containers. The extended reach allows more efficient material handling without driving deep into piles, improving manoeuvrability and productivity.

The model shares key components with the T55-7s, including a 115 kW engine, high-performance hydraulics and an ergonomic cab with excellent visibility. Operator control is supported by a seat-mounted multifunction joystick and an electronic pre-control system that enables assistance functions such as Auto Power, Fine Control Mode and Automatic Telescope Retraction.

Hydraulic performance is provided by a load-sensing pump with up to 200 l/min flow, ensuring fast cycle times and efficient operation. The longer boom improves visibility during loading by reducing the lift angle, while an optimised dump angle supports quicker material discharge. Liebherr’s structural stability and load moment control ensure safe and reliable operation.

The T48-8s comes standard with a 3.5-inch colour display, with an optional 7-inch display, and offers multiple steering modes including crab steering. With lift performance comparable to the T55-7s and a true 8-metre lift height that exceeds many competitors, the T48-8s is now in production and available to order via LIAS.
