Louisville, Kentucky – Link-Belt Excavators., a heavy construction machines manufacturer, has expanded its X4S excavator lineup at this year’s Utility Expo with the introduction of its smallest model, the 145 X4S. The new machine brings improved engine performance, upgraded hydraulics, and additional technology options tailored for contractors working in tight spaces.
The 145 X4S is designed for jobsites with limited room, such as alleys and small highway projects. With a minimal tail swing of 5 feet at 12.5 rpm and 27,400 lb-ft of swing torque, the machine provides maneuverability without compromising power. Its Isuzu turbocharged diesel engine delivers 102 hp at 2,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 257 lb-ft at 1,800 rpm. The excavator can reach a top travel speed of 3.5 mph and handle slopes up to 70%.
Weighing up to 33,900 pounds with a 7,500-pound counterweight and an 8-foot 6-inch dozer blade, the 145 X4S is equipped with an electronically controlled hydraulic pump paired with a spool stroke control system for improved efficiency and precision. The machine delivers 4,970 psi on the boom arm (5,260 psi with Power Boost), 4,050 psi on the swing circuit, and 4,970 psi on the travel circuit, supported by a 20-gallon hydraulic tank.
Operators can enhance productivity with three new tech options: a Digital Level for real-time attachment height and angle data, Height and Depth Alarms with audible and on-screen alerts, and a Payload Management system to track bucket volume, loading history, and multiple truck and bucket capacities. Information is displayed on a customizable 10-inch high-definition, anti-glare LCD monitor.
Cab comfort has also been upgraded, featuring a high-back, tilting, and heated seat. Standard technology includes a wide-angle visual enhancement system, offering a 230-degree view around the machine.
The 145 X4S joins the original X4S lineup, which debuted at Conexpo 2023 with the 170 X4S, and continues Link-Belt’s collaboration with its parent company, Japan-based Sumitomo Construction Machinery Company.
This new compact excavator targets contractors seeking a combination of power, precision, and advanced technology in confined jobsite conditions.
