Brazil- Magneti Marelli SpA., has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with the inauguration of a new production line at its Hortolândia plant in São Paulo, Brazil. Backed by a €10 million investment, this expansion enables the company to double the production of its advanced Pico Eco injectors, reaching a capacity of 6.5 million units per year starting this month.
Developed specifically for bi-fuel engines, the Pico Eco injectors enhance fuel atomization during injection, leading to better combustion efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and lower emissions. After the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), they represent Magneti Marelli's most innovative component in bi-fuel systems, playing a key role in optimizing the air-fuel mixture in modern engines.
The launch coincided with the visit of the Fiat S.p.A global board of executives to Brazil, emphasizing the strategic importance of the region in the company’s global operations and commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
Mr. Rogerio Lessa, general manager of the Magneti Marelli Powertrain brazilian business line, said, "We have acquired and set up a new production line in order to meet the increased market demands, which embraced whole-heartedly our latest generation of fuel injectors, launched in early 2009. It is a proof that we must constantly and continuously invest in the evolution and development of flexfuel systems in Brazil. The injector was named Pico Eco due to its low environmental impact, as it contributes to reduce fuel consumption by up to 3% and as much as 20% of the emissions in passenger vehicles.
