Chennai, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M)., an automobile manufacturer, has announced the expansion of its Advanced Research and Development Centre along with additional testing facilities at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The move reflects the company’s focus on strengthening in-house R&D and supporting the Make in India initiative. Mahindra said fresh investments at MRV will enhance its engineering and validation capabilities and further position Chennai as a strategic hub for research and innovation.
The ground-breaking ceremony was held in Chennai in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M. K. Stalin and the Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce, Mr. T. R. B. Rajaa. The upgraded facility is expected to be operational within the current calendar year.
Mahindra will invest in the expansion to scale up MRV’s capabilities for advanced vehicle design, product engineering, and future technology development. The enhanced R&D and testing infrastructure is aimed at supporting next-generation platforms across multiple vehicle segments.
Once fully operational, the expanded facility is expected to create employment opportunities for around 2,000 professionals across engineering, research, and technical roles. MRV currently employs about 5,000 skilled professionals at its 125-acre campus.
