Mahindra Group appoints Hemant Sikka as MLL CEO, Veejay Nakra to lead Farm Equipment, and R Velusamy to head Automotive Business.
Date: April 22, 2025Mumbai- Mahindra Group has announced key leadership changes aimed at driving growth, innovation, and value creation across its core businesses.
Mr. Hemant Sikka, currently President of the Farm Equipment Sector (FES), has been appointed as the Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Logistics Limited (MLL) by the MLL Board. Hemant brings a robust blend of strategic acumen, operational excellence, customer-centric focus, and strong people leadership. The Group believes MLL holds significant potential for growth and value creation, and Hemant is well-positioned to lead it into its next phase. The current CEO, Ram Swaminathan, will be stepping down to pursue other professional opportunities.
Mr. Veejay Nakra, presently President of the Automotive Division, will take over as President of the Farm Equipment Business (FEB), one of Mahindra’s most profitable verticals with a Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) of over 60%. With immense growth potential through tractors, farm machinery, and global expansion, Veejay’s proven track record particularly in transforming the Auto Business through strategic product launches and international expansion makes him the ideal leader for FEB. He will continue to report to Rajesh Jejurikar.
Mr. R Velusamy, currently President of Automotive Technology and Product Development, will assume the role of President of the Automotive Business (AB). Under his leadership, the integrated SUV and LCV (under 3.5-tonne) business will operate with end-to-end responsibility, including P&L ownership. This strategic move aims to enhance agility, foster deeper collaboration, and accelerate innovation across engineering and go-to-market efforts. Velu, who joined Mahindra in 1996, has been a key architect behind the company’s ICE flagship vehicles and electric mobility initiatives. He will also report to Rajesh Jejurikar.
Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & Managing Director of M&M, said, "These leadership changes ensure that we have strong, proven leaders at the helm of our key businesses. Their experience will enable us to drive significant growth and create greater value for our customers and shareholders. We thank Ram for his contributions and wish Hemant, Veejay, and Velu the very best for the journey ahead.”
