Mahindra has opened a new EV manufacturing and battery facility at its Chakan plant, supporting Electric Origin SUV production and sustainable mobility.

Pune – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., an automobile manufacturing company, has opened a new EV manufacturing and battery assembly facility at its Chakan plant in Pune. This facility supports the production of Electric Origin SUVs and strengthens Mahindra’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
Mahindra’s new EV plant at its 2.83 km² Chakan hub, powered by 100% renewable energy, underscores its commitment to innovation and sustainability. With ₹4,500 Crores allocated for powertrain development and manufacturing, the fully automated facility features over 1,000 robots, prioritizes skill development and quality, and promotes a 25% gender diversity ratio. This sets the stage for the launch of the next-generation Electric Origin SUVs.
The next-generation EV plant spans 88,000 m² and features a fully automated Press Shop, AI-driven Body Shop, and advanced robotic Paint Shop for enhanced quality and efficiency. With over 500 robots and automated transfer systems, all monitored by an IoT-based “Nerve Center,” the plant ensures real-time process insights and traceability. Adopting Industry 4.0 technologies, including AMRs and AGVs, the plant highlights Mahindra’s focus on safety, speed, and reliable, sustainable manufacturing.
