New Delhi – The Indian tractor industry saw a slight 1% decline in sales during FY25, with total sales reaching 8,83,095 units compared to 8,92,410 units in FY24. Despite this dip, major players like Mahindra & Mahindra, its Swaraj and Sonalika have shown strong growth, maintaining optimism about the sector's future.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a largest tractor manufacturer, has once again retained its dominant position in the market. The company sold 2,08,114 units in FY25, marking a 2% increase from the 2,04,726 units sold in FY24. This growth has also translated into a slight improvement in market share, which raise from 22.94% to 23.57%.

Mahindra’s ability to maintain its stronghold, even amid challenging market conditions, can be attributed to its unwavering reputation for durability, a vast localized service network, and a continuous drive for technological innovation. These factors have fostered strong trust and loyalty among Indian farmers, making Mahindra a preferred choice for their farming needs.

Mahindra’s Swaraj division, which has carved out a strong presence in rural India with its affordable and dependable tractors, also recorded notable growth in FY25. Swaraj sold 1,65,562 units, marking a 3% increase from the previous year’s sales of 1,59,997 units. This growth helped the brand increase its market share from 17.93% to 18.75%, making Swaraj the second-largest player in the Indian tractor market.

Together, Mahindra’s combined sales of both the Mahindra and Swaraj brands crossed an impressive 3.73 lakh units, representing over 42% of the total tractor market in India.

Despite the overall market's slight contraction, Mahindra & Mahindra's sustained growth in both its core Mahindra and Swaraj brands underscores the company's adaptability and strength in the agricultural machinery market. With its innovative solutions and commitment to addressing the needs of farmers, Mahindra continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India’s tractor industry.

As the market evolves, Mahindra’s continued focus on innovation, service quality, and affordability positions it well for sustained leadership, helping to drive growth and improve the productivity of India’s farming community.
