Mumbai-Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India’s leading SUV manufacturer, has unveiled its boldest vision yet for the future of mobility. the company introduced its all-new NU_IQ platform, a revolutionary modular, multi-energy architecture that will underpin a new generation of SUVs starting 2027. Alongside the announcement, Mahindra also showcased four futuristic SUV concepts – Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X – signaling the dawn of a new era for the brand.
The NU_IQ platform has been engineered to address untapped white spaces in both Indian and global markets. With its modularity and flexibility, it supports multiple body styles, powertrains including ICE, hybrid and EV, as well as front-wheel, all-wheel, left-hand and right-hand drive configurations. It brings several firsts to Mahindra SUVs, such as command seating with superior driving dynamics, a super spacious cabin with class-leading boot space, and the first-ever flat-floor ICE SUV taken from drawing board to reality. Its lightweight design meets top-tier global safety standards, while its NU_UX integrated domain architecture delivers intuitive, sci-fi-level technology.
According to R Velusamy, President – Automotive Business (Designate) and Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., NU_IQ is a strategic blueprint for the future of Mahindra SUVs globally, offering innovation across multiple models and powertrains while staying true to the brand’s core DNA. He described it as a bold step towards freeing customers from compromises.
The new SUV concepts also showcase the next chapter of Mahindra’s HEARTCORE design philosophy, reimagined under the theme “Opposites Attract.” This design approach blends contrasting elements such as toughness and sophistication, sportiness and solidity, and heritage with futuristic aesthetics. Pratap Bose, Chief Design & Creative Officer, emphasized that these vehicles are designed to create deep emotional bonds with consumers while inspiring adventure, confidence, and connection. Each of the four concepts carries a distinct identity: Vision.S stands for Sporty Solidity, Vision.T for Born Iconic spirit, Vision.SXT for versatile modern design, and Vision.X for Sculptural Athleticism. The designs were created collaboratively by Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe in Banbury, UK.
Engineered at Mahindra Research Valley, the NU_IQ concepts are scheduled to go into production starting 2027. This marks a decisive step in Mahindra’s ambition to deliver premium, luxury SUVs not only to Indian customers but also to a global audience. With left-hand drive compatibility built into the platform, Mahindra aims to strengthen its footprint across international markets. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division, highlighted that NU_IQ blends innovation, global design, and advanced technology to disrupt white spaces in the automotive industry, ushering in a no-compromise era of mobility.
