Munich, Germany- MAN Truck & Bus SE., a commercial vehicle manufacturers and providers of transport solutions, has received its largest electric bus order in Spain. Valencia’s public transport company, EMT, has ordered 84 new city buses, including 57 fully electric MAN Lion’s City 12 E buses and 27 hybrid MAN Lion’s City 18 EfficientHybrid buses. The deal is worth approximately 50 million euros and includes both delivery and maintenance.
Mr. Robert Katzer, Head of Sales & Product Bus at MAN Truck & Bus, said, “Our battery-electric buses are already operating successfully in Valencia and many other Spanish cities. The fact that EMT is expanding its MAN eBus fleet demonstrates a high level of satisfaction among drivers, operators, and passengers.”
MAN was awarded two of the four lots in EMT’s large-scale vehicle tender, with the contract valued at approximately 50 million euros. It includes both vehicle delivery and ongoing maintenance services, strengthening MAN's presence in the region’s public transport sector.
This order represents the largest share of a major Spanish public tender for electric and hybrid buses in 2025. It is part of Valencia’s broader €170 million investment strategy to modernize its bus fleet and significantly cut emissions. The city plans to introduce 218 new electric and hybrid buses by 2028, aiming to reduce the average fleet age and bring the proportion of diesel buses below 7% by 2027.
The newly ordered MAN vehicles the 12-meter Lion’s City E and 18-meter Lion’s City EfficientHybrid will be delivered in phases starting at the end of 2026, helping EMT address both environmental goals and high-capacity urban transport needs.
The Valencia order further cements MAN Truck & Bus’s leadership in the electric mobility space. The company is pursuing a clear zero-emission strategy, with its Lion’s City E model family now operating successfully across Europe. Since its launch, over 2,500 eBuses have covered more than 100 million kilometers on the continent. In Q1 2025 alone, MAN delivered 283 eBuses, accounting for more than 50% of its city bus sales in Europe.
With its latest partnership in Valencia, MAN continues to drive the transition to clean, efficient, and reliable public transport systems in major urban centers.
