Maruti Suzuki debuts the Dzire Hybrid in the Philippines with a new 1.2L mild-hybrid engine, enhanced features, and export-only availability.
Date: April 28, 2025Philippines- Maruti Suzuki India Limited., an automobile manufacturer, has taken its popular sedan global by launching the Dzire Hybrid in the Philippines. The Dzire Hybrid features the new Z12E 1.2L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, paired with a CVT gearbox and 12V SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild-hybrid system.
Visually, the Philippines-spec Dzire Hybrid retains the same styling as the India-spec model, including the 5-star Global NCAP rating (5-star adult, 4-star child occupant safety). However, it is adapted for left-hand drive markets. While the sunroof offered in India is omitted, most features are identical, such as LED headlights, chrome belt line, rear AC vents, and push-button start. The Philippines model offers two trims: GL and GLX, with a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system compared to India’s 7-inch unit.
Under the hood, the hybrid system provides torque assist and energy recuperation through a 0.072 kWh battery and a 2.19 kW (2.93 bhp) electric motor, aimed at improving fuel efficiency, though official figures for the Philippines are not revealed yet. The petrol engine outputs 81.58 PS and 111.7 Nm torque identical to the Indian version but the hybrid adds a slight edge in smoothness and efficiency.
Additional features include front, side, and curtain airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, reverse camera and sensors, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, and polished alloy wheels on the top variant.
The Dzire Hybrid’s fresh styling, with a broad front fascia and six-multi LED reflectors, emphasizes modernity and elegance. It’s expected to remain an export-only model for now, helping Maruti Suzuki maintain affordability in the Indian market.
