New Delhi - Maruti Suzuki India Limited., a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has previewed the eVitara electric SUV ahead of its debut at Auto Expo 2025 (Bharat Mobility Global Expo). The SUV will be revealed to the Indian audience for the first time on January 17 in New Delhi.
Previously shown as the eVX concept, the Suzuki eVitara was recently unveiled in Milan, Italy. This all-electric SUV marks Maruti’s first EV for India and will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta EV (launching on January 17), MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv, and Mahindra BE 6.
The production-spec eVitara closely resembles the eVX concept, with some changes such as sharper elements being softened into more rounded edges. However, the overall design of the concept has largely been retained in the production model.
The Maruti eVitara is built on a new skateboard platform developed in collaboration with Toyota. Toyota’s version of the eVitara, called the Urban Cruiser EV, will also be produced. Both models will be manufactured in India and exported to various international markets.
The eVitara is expected to offer two battery options: a 49kWh setup for the entry-level variants and a 61kWh option for the higher trims. The 61kWh version is likely to feature an AWD system, which Suzuki refers to as AllGrip-e.
The eVitara will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa premium outlets. In addition to unveiling the eVitara, Maruti Suzuki has also hinted at plans for an accessible charging infrastructure across India, with a network of chargers at the brand sales and service centers.
