Ahmedabad- Matter Motor Works Pvt. Ltd., has launched its electric motorcycle, the Aera, in New Delhi, with bookings now open on the company’s website, the Aera is touted as India’s first electric motorcycle with a manual transmission. It features HyperShift, a 4-speed manual gearbox that provides a traditional riding experience with the smooth, silent operation of an EV. Paired with three riding modes Eco, City, and Sport riders can enjoy 12 unique riding combinations.

The Aera’s powertrain is built for Indian road and climate conditions, featuring an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor and an active liquid-cooled system managed by an Integrated Intelligent Thermal Management System (IITMS). The motor delivers a peak power output of 11.5 kW, allowing the bike to accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 105 km/h.

Powered by a 5kWh battery pack with IP67-rated protection, the Aera offers an IDC-certified range of 172 km and a real-world range of up to 125 km. Charging is flexible, with normal charging (0–80%) completed in 5 hours and fast charging in just 1.5 hours. The onboard 1kW charger is paired with support for a 3kW DC fast charger for added convenience.

The Matter Aera is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen TFT display running Android 11, offering features like navigation, ride statistics, music control, and OTA updates. The bike includes a state-of-the-art processor with 3GB RAM, along with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and BLE connectivity.

Further enhancing the user experience, the MatterVerse mobile app offers remote locking/unlocking, live tracking, geo-fencing, and ride analytics. A smart key enables keyless operation, adding to the vehicle’s modern appeal.

The Aera is built on a dual cradle frame, equipped with a telescopic front fork and dual rear shocks with Nitrox and 5-level adjustability. Braking is handled by a 270mm front disc and 220mm rear disc, supported by single-channel ABS. It also includes regenerative braking.

Styling elements include bi-functional LED projector headlamps, insignia-embedded LED taillights, sequential rear indicators, alloy wheels, and a sleek body design. The motorcycle has a ground clearance of 183 mm, seat height of 790 mm, and a kerb weight of 168 kg — balancing performance and comfort.

Matter estimates the Aera’s running cost at just 25 paise per kilometer, with potential savings of up to ₹1 lakh over three years of city commuting. This makes the Aera not just a performance-oriented electric motorcycle, but also a highly economical and practical solution for urban riders.

With the Aera, Matter is redefining electric motorcycling in India, blending traditional motorbike dynamics with futuristic tech and green mobility.
