Stuttgart, Germany - Mercedes-Benz AG, a luxury automotive brand and manufacturer, has introduced the comprehensively updated GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ and GLS 63 4MATIC+, strengthening the performance segment of its SUV portfolio. Both flagship models combine AMG’s signature V8 power with advanced technology, exclusive design and a strong balance of sportiness, comfort and everyday usability.

At the core of both models is the extensively developed AMG M177 EVO engine. The 4.0-litre V8 biturbo powertrain represents Mercedes-AMG’s performance DNA in its purest form. With a series of major technical upgrades, the iconic engine has been made future-ready for upcoming regulations while continuing to deliver the high performance expected from AMG without compromising power or driving character.

Mr. Michael Schiebe, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG responsible for Production, Quality and Supply Chain Management, and Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, said: “Our V8 engine is a central part of AMG’s performance DNA and the ideal heart of the new GLE 63 S and GLS 63. For many years, the V8 has stood for impressive performance and has remained highly popular among our customers. With the new-generation M177 EVO engine, we have fundamentally redeveloped the powertrain and secured its long-term place in our portfolio, while ensuring it meets increasingly demanding regulations worldwide.”

The new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ and GLS 63 4MATIC+ feature the comprehensively updated AMG M177 EVO 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine. The powertrain includes a flat-plane crankshaft, revised intake camshaft, optimized fuel injection system, improved turbocharger components and advanced exhaust aftertreatment. As before, the engine is built in Affalterbach under AMG’s “One Man, One Engine” principle.

The M177 EVO delivers 450 kW / 612 hp and 850 Nm of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm, matching the previous output while improving response, efficiency and emissions compliance. A 48V mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter-generator adds 17 kW / 23 hp and 205 Nm, supporting stronger low-speed response, energy recovery and smoother engine restarts.

Performance remains a key focus. The GLE 63 S accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the GLS 63 completes it in 4.2 seconds. Both models can reach up to 280 km/h.

The updated AMG Performance exhaust system enhances the V8 sound, with adjustable flap control allowing a quieter tone in Comfort mode and a more emotional sound in Sport+ mode.

Both SUVs also receive a stronger AMG design, including a redesigned front end, AMG-specific grille, larger air intakes, exclusive LED lighting and twin exhaust tailpipes. The cabin combines luxury and sportiness with the latest AMG Performance steering wheel, premium leather options, AMG trim finishes and MB.OS digital displays showing performance data such as torque distribution, G-forces and engine parameters.

For driving dynamics, the models feature AMG RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension, AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL roll stabilization, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and an electronic AMG rear-axle limited-slip differential. These systems improve handling, comfort, traction and light off-road capability.

Customers can further personalize both models with AMG wheel options up to 22 inches for the GLE and 23 inches for the GLS, along with MANUFAKTUR paint, interior and trim packages.
