Pune - Mercedes-Benz India., a luxury vehicles company, has launched the EQS 450 five-seat variant at Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom), alongside the off-road capable G 580. This marks the first time the EQS electric SUV will be assembled in India, outside the US. The EQS badge debuted in India with the 580 variants in a seven-seat layout, followed by the Maybach EQS SUV.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 SUV is priced at ₹1.28 crore (ex-showroom), making it ₹13 lakh more affordable than the EQS 580 SUV, which is sold out until April 2025. Deliveries of the EQS 450 SUV will begin in February 2025. It competes with the BMW iX priced at ₹1.39 crore and the Audi Q8 e-tron priced at ₹1.2 crore.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 five-seat version is more accessible than the seven-seat variant, offering improved rear legroom due to the removal of two seats. Despite this, the exterior design of the EV remains unchanged, maintaining the brand's signature style.
The EQS 450 is packed with premium features typical of its category, including five-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, a Burmester sound system, puddle lamps, illuminated running boards, and soft-close doors. The standout feature is the massive 56-inch hyperscreen, which integrates three displays into one unit. For safety, the vehicle comes equipped with nine airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, and more.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 is powered by a 122-kWh battery pack, the same as the EQS 580, offering an impressive range of 857 km on a single charge. The battery powers two electric motors, one on each axle, generating a combined output of 537 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque. This setup allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. When the battery is low, it can be recharged from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes using a 200 kW DC charger.
