Stuttgart, Germany - Mercedes-Benz AG., an automotive manufacturer, has unveiled the all-new electric VLE, marking the start of a new chapter for the brand’s van lineup. Built as the first model on the company’s new modular, flexible, and scalable Van Architecture, the VLE redefines the Grand Limousine segment by combining limousine-like comfort and driving dynamics with the spaciousness and flexibility of an MPV. Equipped with the advanced Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), 800-volt technology, and high-performance charging, the new VLE is designed to deliver efficiency, versatility, and premium electric mobility for every journey.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz VLE also stands out with a striking design and an exceptional sense of space, creating a premium and welcoming cabin experience. Designed to accommodate up to eight occupants, the VLE delivers a new level of comfort, versatility, and digital sophistication, along with a refined driving experience. Its new AIRMATIC suspension with level control enhances ride comfort for a smoother and more relaxing journey, while rear-axle steering improves agility and makes the vehicle easier to handle in tight urban spaces, narrow roads, and parking areas.
Mr. Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management, Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said “The all-new electric VLE marks the next significant milestone in our successful 140-year automotive history. Shaped by our pioneering spirit, it redefines the notion of space and comfort, and adds a game-changing level of versatility and innovation. It also offers a class-leading range of more than 700 km. The VLE is the first model to be built on the new Van Architecture, designed to meet a wide range of customer needs and adapt to any lifestyle.”
The all-new Mercedes-Benz VLE introduces a new modular and flexible Van Architecture, bringing a fresh design language with a low, sleek silhouette and distinctive styling. Its aerodynamic profile is highly efficient, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.25.
The VLE offers highly flexible seating for up to eight occupants. Manual Roll & Go seats can be moved easily, locked into different positions, or removed for added practicality, while electrically adjustable seats can be repositioned through the app or head unit using the Remote Variable Rear Space function.
Mercedes-Benz has also developed new seat options for the VLE, allowing customers to choose different comfort levels and layouts. A standout feature is the electric Grand Comfort Seat, which includes an extra pillow, wireless charging, lumbar support, massage function, and calf support for a more premium travel experience.
Inside, the VLE delivers an advanced MBUX Rear Space Experience with a retractable 31.3-inch 8K panoramic screen integrated into the headliner above the front seats. The display includes split-screen functionality and an eight-megapixel camera, supporting entertainment, gaming, and video conferencing on the move.
The VLE is engineered to deliver premium ride comfort and agility. Its AIRMATIC air suspension with 40 mm level control ensures a smooth and refined drive, while seven-degree rear-axle steering improves maneuverability and enables a compact turning circle of just 10.9 metres.
For long-distance travel, the electric VLE offers a WLTP range of more than 700 kilometres. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture and new 115 kWh usable battery, the vehicle can gain up to 355 kilometres of WLTP range in just 15 minutes of charging.
Highlighted by the Sky View panoramic roof, which enhances the sense of openness, comfort, and relaxation inside the cabin. The large glass roof adds a spacious and airy feel, while ambient lighting further elevates the premium atmosphere. An electric sunblind is also provided for added protection from strong sunlight.
The VLE is equipped with advanced digital intelligence through the AI-powered Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), making the driving experience more connected, intuitive, and personalized. It features the latest MBUX system along with the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which uses generative AI to understand more natural and complex conversations. Over-the-air updates also allow the vehicle to receive new features and software improvements without requiring a dealership visit.
Inside the cabin, the digital cockpit is centered around the MBUX Superscreen, which integrates a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a 14-inch front passenger screen beneath a single glass surface. This setup gives the driver clear access to key vehicle information, while also offering the front passenger a dedicated entertainment experience, including streaming, gaming, and apps.
Mercedes-Benz has also enhanced driver assistance in the VLE with MB.DRIVE technologies. Distance Assist DISTRONIC is offered as standard, while the optional MB.DRIVE ASSIST package adds semi-autonomous steering support on highways and an advanced Lane Change Assist system, helping make long-distance driving easier and more convenient.
Thomas Klein, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said “The all-new VLE marks the beginning of a new era for Mercedes-Benz. It brings everything our customers know and love to a new level. Combining MPV-like versatility with limousine-like driving comfort and an immersive spatial experience, it’s unlike any other vehicle with up to eight seats. The electric VLE will delight customers worldwide because it’s as diverse as they are.”
