Pune - Mercedes-Benz India., a luxury vehicles company, has launched the G 580 Edition One. Mercedes G 580 with EQ Technology, the electric G-Class will be sold alongside the AMG G 63 facelift in India. Mercedes has confirmed that the G 580 will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi.

The G 580 retains the iconic G-Class boxy design, similar to the G 450d, with added EQ badges. It features a partially raised bonnet with air curtains, a redesigned A-pillar, and a roof spoiler to enhance aerodynamics and reduce cabin noise. The rear wheel-arch flares also include air curtains for improved efficiency. LED lights outlining the front give the EQG a distinctive look.

Inside, the G 580 retains the classic G-Class feel with slight EV adjustments. It features the MBUX multimedia system with twin 12.3-inch screens, physical controls for HVAC, and adaptive cruise control. The "Offroad Cockpit" is centrally located, and the boot offers 555 liters of space, smaller than the petrol and diesel versions, with no frunk.

The G 580 is powered by a 116kWh battery with a range of 473 km (WLTP). It supports 200kW charging, recharging from 10-80% in 32 minutes. The electric G-Class features four motors, a two-speed gearbox, and 587 bhp with 1,164 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.

The G 580 features independent front suspension, a rear rigid axle, and virtual mechanical differential locks for optimized torque vectoring. It includes a low-range transmission, off-road crawl function (2 km/h), and improved water wading capacity of 850mm. Notable features include G-Turn for a 720-degree rotation and G-Steering, reducing the turning circle by pivoting around individual wheels.
