Kawasaki, Japan- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) to explore a strategic collaboration in zero-emission mobility. The partnership brings together Japan’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer and the world’s largest electronics maker to accelerate the transition to clean transportation.
Through their subsidiaries – Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (MFBM) and Foxtron Vehicle Technologies – the two companies will cooperate on the development, production, supply chain management, and sales of zero-emission buses. The collaboration will begin with Foxtron’s MODEL T and MODEL U.
The four partners will use the MoU as a foundation to evaluate future business models that enhance the FUSO brand and support the creation of new, made-in-Japan buses. This initiative aims to deliver products tailored to diverse customer needs in the rapidly evolving bus market while ensuring sustainable business growth.
MFBM will serve as the operational hub for the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of buses in key markets. The scope will also include exploring the introduction of both made-in-Japan internal combustion engine (ICE) and zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs).
Foxtron’s award-winning full-size MODEL T, already operating successfully in Taiwan’s major cities, is recognized for its performance and safety in public transit. Complementing it, the versatile midi-sized MODEL U features a clean, intelligent design that emphasizes flexibility and multi-functionality.
