Mitsubishi Fuso Launches All-Electric eCanter Truck in Singapore

Mitsubishi Fuso has launched its electric eCanter truck in Singapore, supporting the country’s push for sustainable transport. The truck offers zero emissions, quick charging, and advanced safety features.

Kawasaki, Japan- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation., has officially launched its all-electric light-duty eCanter truck in Singapore, marking the first delivery of this vehicle to a local customer. Singapore logistics hub and home to Asia’s largest cargo airport, is pushing for cleaner energy in transportation, aiming for all vehicles on its roads to run on sustainable energy by 2040. The government’s roadmap includes a target of 60,000 charging points by 2030 to facilitate EV adoption.

Initially introduced in 2017, the eCanter is well-suited for urban deliveries, offering zero local emissions, ease of driving, a quiet ride, and low vibration levels. In Singapore, the truck is available in four variants with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 5 to 8.55 tons. Its wheelbase lengths vary from 2.5 meters to 4.45 meters, and customers can choose from S, M, or L-size battery options, with capacities of up to 124 kWh. The eCanter can be fully charged overnight via a standard outlet or in under two hours using a fast charger at locations like a customer’s depot.

Mr. Karl Deppen, MFTBC’s President and CEO, said that the eCanter is expected to meet diverse customer needs in Singapore, just as it has successfully done in 38 markets worldwide. The truck will be distributed in Singapore by Goldbell Engineering Pte. Ltd., which has served as FUSO’s authorized distributor for over 40 years. Alongside the eCanter, FUSO also offers its light-duty diesel Canter, medium-duty Fighter, and heavy-duty Super Great trucks in the Singapore market. These commercial vehicles are manufactured at MFTBC’s Kawasaki plant and imported into Singapore as built-up (BU) trucks, ensuring a robust presence in the local market.

The eCanter is equipped with several safety features, including Active Attention Assist, Active Sideguard Assist 1.0, and Active Brake Assist (ABA®5), which can detect vehicles and pedestrians under ideal conditions and initiate emergency braking to enhance road safety for all users.
