Tokyo, Japan- Mitsubishi Motors Corporation., has announced the launch of the all-new Grandis compact SUV for the European market. The vehicle will be produced at Renault’s Valladolid plant in Spain, with a phased rollout scheduled to begin later this year through Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V. This marks the return of the Grandis name to Europe after 13 years, now as a modern SUV built on the CMF-B platform, developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The new Grandis follows the successful European introductions of the ASX compact SUV and the Colt hatchback in 2023.

The all-new Grandis will be offered in mild hybrid (MHEV) and full hybrid (HEV) powertrains. The MHEV variant uses a 1.3L turbocharged direct injection petrol engine delivering 103 kW, available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The HEV variant combines a 1.8L engine, two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery, and a smart multi-mode gearbox, offering a total output of 115 kW. The hybrid system automatically optimizes the power flow between engine and motor, and features multiple drive modes, including EV, hybrid, regenerative, and E-Save.

The name Grandis is derived from Latin, meaning large and impressive — a theme that carries through both design and interior space. The SUV features Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield front face, highlighted by a glossy black grille and satin silver accents. The profile is dynamic, with a flowing roofline and newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear showcases a sculptural hexagonal motif and sleek, horizontal LED taillights.

Inside, the Grandis offers a spacious and flexible two-row, five-seat layout. The rear seats slide up to 160 mm, allowing the cargo space to expand from 434 liters to 566 liters, and up to 1,455 liters with the rear seatbacks folded. Features include a hands-free power tailgate and an electrochromic panoramic roof that adjusts shading with a touch. These elements enhance practicality while ensuring comfort and openness.

On the tech front, the Grandis comes equipped with a 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen that integrates Google built-in, including Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported. Four customizable drive modes Perso, Eco, Comfort, and Sport — can be selected via the display, and a Mitsubishi mobile app adds convenience with digital key functionality and a car locator.

Safety is a key focus, with a wide suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Depending on the trim, features include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Centering Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Around View Monitor, Automatic High Beam, and Park Assist. These systems combine ultrasonic sensors, cameras, and radar to support confident, secure driving in all conditions.

With its modern design, electrified performance, smart technologies, and comprehensive safety features, the new Mitsubishi Grandis is set to strengthen Mitsubishi’s SUV lineup and appeal to European customers seeking versatility and efficiency in a compact SUV package.

Mr. Tatsuo Nakamura, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors, said, "Following the launch of the Outlander PHEV last year, we are strengthening our lineup in the European market with the introduction of the all-new Grandis, featuring Mitsubishi Motors' Dynamic Shield design. With an additional launch of the Eclipse Cross BEV model around the same time, we will offer a diverse range of electrified vehicles—HEV, PHEV, and BEV—to meet the varied needs of our customers."
