Montra Electric Opens e-SCV Plant in Chennai

Montra Electric has opened a 5 lakh sq. ft. e-SCV plant in Ponneri, Chennai, with a 50,000-vehicle capacity to support India's EV and net-zero goals.

Chennai- Montra Electric, a division of TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd. (TICMPL), has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCVs) in Ponneri, Chennai. Operated by Montra Electric's e-SCV division, TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Private Limited, the facility was officially inaugurated by Mr. Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Limited (TII). The event was attended by Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of TICMPL, and Mr. Saju Nair, CEO of TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Private Limited.

The facility spans approximately 5 lakh square feet and has an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. Strategically located near the Kolkata highway, 35 kilometers from Chennai, it is designed to streamline distribution and meet the growing demand for electric commercial vehicles. The plant fosters collaboration and operational efficiency.

It will manufacture the EVIATOR, an e-SCV featuring a certified range of 245 km and a real-world range of 170 km. The vehicle delivers a power output of 80 kW and torque of 300 Nm. It also comes with an extended warranty of up to seven years or 2.5 lakh kilometers and is equipped with telematics to enhance fleet uptime.
