Ibaraki, Japan - Morooka Co., Ltd., has introduced its latest rotating crawler carrier, the MST160CR, to the U.S. market with higher travel speed, improved operator technology and stronger durability features.
The new MST160CR is powered by a 306-horsepower Caterpillar C7.1 Tier 4 Final engine. The machine weighs 40,345 pounds and offers a maximum payload capacity of 35,274 pounds. Its 360-degree rotating dump bed is designed to support efficient material handling in construction, pipeline, utility and off-road applications.
One of the key highlights of the MST160CR is its 8.1 mph top travel speed, which Morooka positions as the fastest in the 16-ton crawler carrier class. Despite its high payload capacity, the machine maintains a compact size, measuring about 20 feet in length and 10 feet in width.
Morooka has added several technology upgrades to improve productivity and ease of operation. The machine includes auto-deceleration functions that reduce engine speed when the travel or swing control levers remain in neutral. An anti-stall function automatically adjusts hydraulic flow when the system detects heavy loads.
The MST160CR also features a new electronically controlled joystick lever, allowing travel direction to match the lever direction for easier operation. For added durability, the front inside section of the dump bed is fitted with wear-resistant Hardox steel plate.
To support safer operation, the crawler carrier includes an overload-prevention weighing function that estimates payload using hydraulic pressure. Standard equipment includes a ROPS/FOPS cabin, LED bar-type lighting, omnidirectional cameras and a 3D bird’s-eye view display on the in-cab monitor.
Compared with the MST110CR, the MST160CR offers improved right-side visibility and a more durable undercarriage, supported by an extended crawler contact length.
With the launch of the MST160CR, Morooka expands its U.S. crawler carrier lineup to 11 models, strengthening its position in the high-capacity rotating carrier segment.
