Mumbai - Neuron Energy., an EV battery producer, has partnered with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to establish a specialized manufacturing facility for the production of lithium-ion battery packs for electric two-wheelers.
The plant, with a monthly production capacity of 3,000 battery packs, generates 100 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy. An investment of Rs 150 crore over the next two years will boost its production capacity to 150 MWh, further strengthening India’s position as a global leader in the EV ecosystem.
The partnership supports the Indian government’s goal of accelerating EV adoption by addressing key challenges such as battery performance, cost, and scalability. Establishing a specialized manufacturing facility with robust production capabilities is expected to play a crucial role in meeting India’s growing demand for electric two-wheelers.
Mr. Pratik Kamdar, CEO and co-founder of Neuron Energy, said, “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey to enhance the electric two-wheeler market with advanced lithium-ion technology. By collaborating with the OEM, we are fusing their market dominance with our knowledge of battery technology to provide customers with unrivaled performance and dependability.”
Lithium-ion batteries offer higher energy density, longer lifespan, and faster charging than lead-acid batteries, driving change in the EV industry. Joint ventures like this are key to boosting production and reducing costs, addressing barriers to adoption. The Indian government supports EV growth through initiatives like FAME, offering incentives for manufacturers, subsidies for buyers, and investments in charging infrastructure.
