Minnesota, United States- NFI Group Inc., a subsidiary of New Flyer of America Inc., has secured an additional order from New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ TRANSIT) for 375 Xcelsior 40-foot clean-diesel transit buses. The order forms part of NJ TRANSITs previously announced multi-phase fleet replacement programme, with orders placed during the third and fourth quarters of 2025.

The original contract, awarded in the first quarter of 2024, covered a base order of 550 Xcelsior 40-foot clean-diesel buses, to be delivered in three phases, and included options for up to 750 additional units. With this latest order, NJ TRANSIT has now completed the full base order, while retaining all option buses for potential future procurement.

Chris Stoddart, President of North American Bus and Coach at NFI, said the Xcelsior buses deliver dependable, cost-effective performance while enhancing safety and accessibility. Designed for durability and long service life, the buses will support NJ TRANSIT in maintaining reliable, essential transportation services across the state.

The additional vehicles will allow NJ TRANSIT to continue replacing aging buses without disrupting service. The programme also supports domestic manufacturing, sustains local jobs, and ensures strong returns on public investment in transit infrastructure.

Mr. Kris Kolluri, NJ TRANSIT President and CEO, said the order reflects the agency’s commitment to providing safe, reliable service for customers across New Jersey. He noted that fleet modernization is a critical investment for riders, employees, and communities, and that the new buses advance NJ TRANSIT’s goal of achieving a fully modernized bus fleet by 2031.
