China- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that its Chinese joint venture, Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Zhengzhou Nissan), will introduce the all-new Frontier Pro and Frontier Pro PHEV, the brand’s first pickup truck with a plug-in hybrid system. These models are also Nissan’s first pickup trucks to be fully designed, developed, and manufactured in China for export to global markets.

Mr. Steven Ma, Chairman of Nissan’s China Management Committee, described the Frontier Pro as “a model born in China and developed for the global market,” calling it a key milestone in Nissan’s global strategy. He stated that exports will begin in the first half of next year, bringing “the excitement of Chinese technology and trend creation to the world.” Ma added that Nissan will continue to support Zhengzhou Nissan’s growth, strengthen its China strategy, promote locally driven innovation, and set new trends in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment.

The Frontier Pro adopts Nissan’s signature V-motion front grille, a floating laser-engraved logo, and advanced LED headlamps that give the vehicle a modern, high-tech appearance. At the rear, 3D tail lamps and a continuous light strip across the tailgate create a distinctive and dynamic visual identity.

Inside, the cabin is focused on comfort, safety, and a premium feel. The front leather seats feature a six-layer breathable cushion structure to improve long-distance comfort. Soft-touch suede materials offer a refined feel while also delivering strong resistance to wear and scratches. The rear seats can be configured in seven different ways and, when folded flat, provide up to 970 liters of cargo space. Enhanced soundproofing and vibration-damping materials, a large panoramic sunroof, and high-quality audio further elevate the in-cabin experience.

The Frontier Pro is engineered for stability and durability over rough terrain, with extensive use of high-strength steel in both the body and frame. All exterior panels are made from double-sided galvanized steel, and the underbody receives additional protective coatings to guard against gravel and debris. The vehicle incorporates 25 advanced driver-assistance features, offering both active and passive safety support to help prevent accidents and protect occupants.

The Frontier Pro PHEV is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a high-output electric motor, delivering more than 300 kW of combined power and up to 800 Nm of torque. This setup provides strong performance along with improved energy efficiency. In EV mode, the vehicle targets an electric-only driving range of up to 135 km*. A 6 kW high-capacity intelligent external power supply is also available, enabling users to power equipment and appliances for outdoor activities such as cooking, lighting, and work tools.

The conventional Frontier Pro (combustion-only) variant uses Nissan’s third-generation M9T diesel engine, which delivers 500 Nm of torque and is matched with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth and capable performance.
