Beijing, China - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., an automobile manufacturer introduced two new NEV SUV concept cars at Auto China 2026, marking an important step in its faster product rollout for China. The showcase also highlighted China’s growing role as one of Nissan’s key markets, as well as a global center for innovation and vehicle exports.

Ivan Espinosa, President and CEO of Nissan, said China is not only a highly competitive domestic market, but also an important source of innovation. He noted that Nissan aims to deliver advanced technology with a clear purpose, creating mobility experiences that are safer, more intuitive, and more accessible for customers in China and global markets.

Two New SUV Concepts Make Global Debut

Nissan revealed two new NEV SUV concepts as part of its expanding electrified vehicle strategy in China.

The Urban SUV PHEV Concept is designed for young Chinese customers. It takes inspiration from the NX8 and Nissan’s future SUV design direction, combining electrified technology with the performance and practicality needed for daily urban driving.

The Terrano PHEV Concept brings back a well-known Nissan nameplate. With the latest plug-in hybrid technology, the concept builds on Nissan’s off-road heritage while meeting the needs of both outdoor adventure and city commuting.

Production versions of both concepts are expected to be revealed within one year. Nissan also plans to introduce three more NEV models in China within the same period, further supporting its NEV expansion and brand transformation.

China’s Strategic Role in Nissan’s Future Vision

Nissan has introduced its new vision, “Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life,” where China plays a major strategic role alongside Japan and the United States as one of the company’s key lead markets.

For Nissan, China serves two important purposes. First, it is a major domestic market where the company aims to deliver strong value to Chinese customers. Second, it acts as a global innovation and export hub, using China’s speed, technology ecosystem, and market scale to develop competitive products for global markets.

Since 2025, Nissan has accelerated its NEV strategy in China with models such as the N7, Frontier Pro PHEV, N6, and NX8. These vehicles combine Nissan’s global quality standards with China’s rapid development capabilities and advanced local technologies, helping the brand gain stronger recognition among Chinese customers.

Nissan also plans to expand exports from China. The N7 will be exported to Latin America and ASEAN markets, while the Frontier Pro is planned for Latin America, ASEAN, and the Middle East. The NX8 and the production version of the Terrano PHEV Concept are also intended for selected global markets.

Through this strategy, Nissan aims to reach one million annual sales in China by fiscal year 2030, with exports playing an important role in its long-term growth.
