      Nithin Gadkari approves draft notification to mandate AC in trucks

      New Delhi- Union Road Transport and Highway Ministry., Shri. Nithin Gadkari has announced that he has approved the draft notification for mandating installation of air conditioners to trucks belonging to  N2 and N3 catagories.

      In his tweet, the minister said, “Approved the draft notification to mandate the installation of air-conditioning systems in the cabins of trucks belonging to categories N2 and N3. Truck drivers play a crucial role in ensuring road safety. Truck drivers play a crucial role in ensuring road safety. This decision marks a significant milestone in providing comfortable working conditions for truck drivers, thereby improving their efficiency and addressing the problem of driver fatigue"

      The minister also mentioned the same last month regarding trucks driver compartments to be air conditioned and aimed from the day he took charge as the minister.

      It is estimated that AC installation would additionally cost ranging from INR10,000 to INR 20,000 per truck.
