New Delhi - Novus Hi-Tech., an automation machinery manufacturer, has collaborated with Eicher Trucks and Buses., a part of Eicher Motors and an automobile company, to launch safety solutions for mining vehicles, showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. These systems adhere to Directorate General of Mine Safety (DGMS) regulations and feature driver monitoring, proximity warning, and automatic headlight control.
The Driver Monitoring System utilizes advanced artificial intelligence to continuously evaluate the driver's alertness and identify potential risks, ensuring safer operation. In addition, the radar-based Proximity Warning System provides real-time collision alerts, helping prevent accidents. The Auto Dipper System automatically adjusts the intensity of headlights to improve visibility, particularly in low-light or hazardous conditions, enhancing overall safety for both drivers and other road users.
Mr. Deep Kapuria, Chairman of Novus Hi-Tech, emphasized the company's focus on indigenous technology development, while Mr. Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), noted that the partnership aims to modernize India's commercial vehicle sector.
Novus Hi-Tech has installed 70,000 safety system units across 20 vehicle models and holds more than 100 patents. The company claims its technology has contributed to preventing 200,000 accidents, backed by the analysis of 7 billion kilometers of driving data.
The partnership comes as India's mining sector faces growing pressure to enhance safety standards. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has been enforcing stricter safety regulations for mining operations, making advanced monitoring systems crucial for mining vehicle operators.
