Anaheim, United States- Phoenix Motor Inc., a electrification solutions provider for medium-duty vehicles, and Fermata Energy LLC, a software provider of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) bidirectional charging platforms, has announced the successful integration of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities for all medium-duty electric vehicles manufactured by Phoenix Motorcars.

From the initial generation of vehicles delivered in 2014 to the present generation of vehicles, all Phoenix electric school buses, shuttle buses, and trucks can be configured with V2G capability, allowing fleets to transmit extra energy back to the grid via Fermata Energy's FE-20 bidirectional chargers. 20kW of DC charging and discharging per second are possible using this connection's CHAdeMO interface.

An OEM software upgrade is available to allow V2G functionality in older model automobiles. Phoenix is the first manufacturer of commercial vehicles to use V2G on all of its models. The company will work with Fermata Energy to use the CCS charging protocol to give its next-generation vehicles faster 60kW V2G capability.

A commercial cooperation deal was signed between Phoenix and Fermata Energy, which will facilitate the streamlined deployment of V2G-capable vehicles, chargers, and managed V2G services.

V2G capacity is essential for the widespread adoption of electric commercial vehicles because it allows fleets to work more harmoniously with power grids, especially in situations of heavy demand.

Mr. Denton Peng, CEO of Phoenix, said that, Phoenix wants to make it possible for fleets to get the most out of their electrification initiatives. Our cars now have V2G capabilities thanks to our collaboration with Fermata Energy, which is a crucial step in achieving this objective. As a first in the industry, we are also thrilled to make this capability available for all of our previous production Vehicles.

Mr. Tony Posawatz, CEO of Fermata Energy, said that, We are happy to keep working with Phoenix after this integration was a success. The V2X bidirectional charging software platform from Fermata Energy "unlocks the value of stationary commercial EV batteries with this integration, moving beyond consumer vehicle applications and enabling fleet owners and operators to earn revenue while parked, protect battery health, and ultimately support energy grid resilience."
