Milan – Pirelli & C. S.p.A. has supplied its latest P Zero R tyres as original equipment for the new Porsche 911 GTS, the first hybrid-powered model in the 911 range. This milestone strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Pirelli and Porsche, as the tyre maker now supports all powertrain types across the brand – ICE, hybrid, and BEV.
Engineered specifically for the GTS variant, the P Zero R blends sport-focused performance with everyday usability. Its advanced compound offers exceptional grip across diverse road conditions, especially in the wet, while a redesigned tread pattern reduces noise and rolling resistance for greater driving efficiency and comfort.
For winter driving, P Zero Winter 2 has been introduced, providing enhanced grip on snow and wet surfaces. The tyre features a directional tread pattern and improved stiffness for superior handling and braking, even in dry winter conditions.
The development of both tyres was powered by Pirelli’s Virtual Development Center (VDC) in Breuberg, Germany. Using cutting-edge simulation tools, the R&D team achieved:
-
30% reduction in development time
-
30% fewer physical prototypes
-
Greater precision in tyre-vehicle matching
This digital-first approach ensures optimal synergy with the Porsche 911 GTS’s innovative hybrid powertrain.
Pirelli’s dedication to tailor-made solutions for Porsche is underscored by its 338 vehicle homologations, including standout products like the P Zero Trofeo RS for the 911 GT3 RS and the Scorpion All Terrain Plus for the off-road-ready 911 Dakar.
With the hybrid 911 GTS, Pirelli continues to push the envelope in performance tyre engineering, aligning with the evolving landscape of electrified high-performance vehicles.
