Singapore- Proton has officially launched its first electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 7, in Singapore, marking the brand’s entry into a third overseas market. The event also signaled Proton’s return to the country after an absence of approximately 11 years.
The launch was attended by top executives from Proton and its partners, including Dr Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton, Vincent Tan, CEO of VINCAR Group, Ainol Azmil bin Abu Bakar, Covering Deputy CEO of Proton, and several other senior officials from Proton International Corporation and PRO-NET. Representatives from the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore and VINCAR customers and media were also present.
The Proton e.MAS 7 has quickly established itself in Malaysia’s competitive EV market. For the first eight months of 2025, nearly 6,000 units have been delivered, making it the country’s most popular EV and giving Proton e.MAS a 24% market share despite a single-model lineup. The e.MAS 7 combines stylish design, powerful performance, high safety, comfort, and intelligent features, supported by Proton’s extensive 3S/4S outlet network to provide convenience and assurance to new EV buyers. With an ASEAN NCAP safety rating of 92.57, it holds the highest safety score in its segment.
Singapore customers will have the option of Prime and Premium variants, available in six exterior colors — Platinum Silver, Lithium White, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, and Obsidian Black — along with two interior color options: Indigo Blue and Alabaster White.
To celebrate the launch, Proton is offering a Founders Edition for the first 99 customers. Benefits include a 10-year unlimited-mileage battery warranty, five years of complimentary data roaming in Malaysia and Singapore, and cross-border roadside assistance for travel between Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia. The launch prices are SGD 175,988 for the Prime variant and SGD 179,988 for the Premium variant, including COE.
With Malaysia’s National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) trial beginning on 22 September, cross-border travel between Singapore and Johor Bahru will become more seamless, enhancing convenience for e.MAS 7 owners.
The Proton e.MAS 7 launch cements Proton’s commitment to expanding its EV footprint internationally, offering Singaporean customers a blend of performance, safety, and cross-border practicality.
Dr Li Chunrong said, “Is not just the launch of a product, it is also the beginning of a partnership PROTON’s technology and values, combined with VINCAR’s local knowledge and customer trust. Malaysia and Singapore are more than neighbors and we are bound by family, business, and daily life, so we will offer as much support as possible to Proton customers from Singapore. ”
Mr. Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Chief Executive Officer, Proton International Corporation, said, “The Proton e.MAS 7 is the first step in Singapore for both the partnership of PROTON and VINCAR. We will add more models to the lineup in the future, focusing our attention on the New Energy Vehicles (NEV) market, which is well established in Singapore.”
