Punjab - The Punjab Agriculture Department has invited farmers to apply for subsidised farm machinery under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM) and the Crop Diversification Scheme. The initiative aims to boost adoption of modern farming equipment and reduce cultivation costs across key crops.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer of Nawanshahr, said, “Applications can be submitted online at agrimachinerypb.com until 5:00 pm on December 4. Farmers to take full advantage of the scheme to keep Nawanshahr among the state’s leading districts in agricultural mechanization.”
A wide range of equipment is covered under the scheme, including pneumatic planters, multi-crop threshers, sugarcane cutters, groundnut diggers, maize dryers, sugarcane harvesters, power sprayers, DSR drills, boom sprayers, lucky seed drills, and more. Subsidy benefits will range between 40% and 50%, according to scheme guidelines.
To complete the application process, farmers must upload scanned copies of Aadhaar, passport-size photo, land ownership record (Fard), and caste certificate (if applying under the Scheduled Caste category). For Custom Hiring Centres, cooperative societies, gram panchayats, and FPOs, Aadhaar details of heads/members and registration documents are required. Applicants must ensure they apply under the correct category to qualify.
After applications are submitted, a district-level committee led by the Deputy Commissioner will review entries and, if necessary, conduct a draw to finalize beneficiaries. Approval letters will be issued online, following which machinery must be purchased within the given timeframe from empanelled manufacturers or dealers.
Farmers are advised to remain in touch with their Block Agriculture Officers or the Agriculture Department for guidance during the application process.
