Deliver-Assist, an all-electric urban logistics solution that enhances safety and improve efficiency by 30% for Intermarché deliveries. It reduces environmental impact by eliminating pallets and single-use plastics, ensuring silent, emission-free operations.
Date: October 1, 2024Warwick, United Kingdom- Renault Trucks., the French truck manufacturer, has introduced Deliver-Assist, an innovative solution aimed at transforming urban logistics with an on-board carousel system. Jacky Perrenot, an transportation company to implement this system for Intermarché deliveries, is optimizing supplies to city outlets while enhancing safety, productivity, and reducing environmental impact.
Logistics providers are facing numerous challenges, including regulatory constraints, rising online sales, delivery time restrictions, driver shortages, and stricter noise and pollution standards. To remain competitive, delivery methods must evolve to incorporate sustainable and efficient solutions that meet the needs of local authorities and city residents.
Deliver-Assist combines an all-electric 26-ton Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide with an automated carousel developed in partnership with ACTEMIUM (VINCI Energies). This system allows drivers to optimize loading and unloading using mobile containers available in secure, isothermal, and wire-mesh configurations. These containers are automatically managed, ensuring precise traceability of goods throughout delivery rounds, thanks to a computerized system by ERECA. The order of loading is no longer crucial, as the system reorganizes containers during deliveries. The Jacky Perrenot Group, a sustainable transport solutions, will be the first to implement Deliver-Assist for Intermarché, reinforcing its commitment to responsible logistics.
Deliver-Assist significantly enhances safety and working conditions for operators and drivers by eliminating the need for pallet wrapping and manual stowing. Goods are loaded directly into containers, which are automatically lowered to road level upon delivery, reducing the risks associated with pallet handling and forklift use.
Operationally, the system improves efficiency by cutting loading, unloading, and preparation times by 30%, increasing productivity and minimizing truck blockage on public roads, thus easing urban congestion.
Environmentally, Deliver-Assist reduces the carbon footprint by eliminating the need for pallets and single-use plastic film, as the containers are reusable. Paired with an all-electric truck and a nitrogen refrigeration solution from FRAPPA, this system ensures silent, emission-free deliveries, addressing sustainability concerns for local residents and cities.
