Royal Enfield Classic 650 Unveiled at EICMA 2024

Milan, Italy- Royal Enfield motors Limited., a motorcycle manufacturer, has officially unveiled the Royal Enfield Classic 650 at EICMA 2024 in Milan. Bookings have opened in the UK and Europe, and they will begin in India in January 2025.

The Classic 650 retains the vintage-inspired aesthetic of the Classic 350, showcasing Royal Enfield's iconic design with key features such as a round headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and rounded fenders. However, it stands out with a larger, more rugged presence, highlighted by a wider rear fender, twin exhaust pipes, and a bigger fuel tank.

Available in four timeless colors—Teal, Vallum Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, and Black Chrome—the Classic 650 offers a blend of elegance to suit various rider preferences. The Teal and Black Chrome options also pay tribute to past Royal Enfield models, creating a sense of continuity for loyal fans.

The Classic 650 is powered by Royal Enfield's 648cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 46.3bhp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of torque at 5,650rpm. It features a smooth 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch, making gear shifts easier and reducing rear-wheel lockup during aggressive downshifts.

The Classic 650 shares its frame with the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650 but is designed for a more relaxed, classic ride. It features a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel setup, reinforced for the 650 engine's power. Suspension includes 43mm Showa telescopic forks and twin rear shock absorbers for comfort and stability. The MRF Nylohighs tires (100/90-19 front, 140/70-R18 rear) offer excellent grip, ensuring the bike performs well on both city streets and winding roads.

The Classic 650 features a semi-digital instrument console with enhanced functionality, including a Tripper navigation pod and a gear position indicator. Full-LED lighting improves visibility, and adjustable clutch and brake levers offer a personalized ride. Dual-channel ABS provides better braking control, especially with the bike’s 243kg weight. The 14.8-liter fuel tank, the largest on any RE 650 model except the Super Meteor, is designed for longer journeys.

The Classic 650 prioritizes rider comfort with an 800mm seat height and 154mm ground clearance, making it accessible for most riders. It comes with a single seat but can easily accommodate a pillion seat via a bolt-on sub-frame. While pricing is yet to be announced, the Classic 650 is expected to be a competitively priced premium retro model in Royal Enfield’s lineup, appealing to riders who seek a blend of classic design and modern performance.
