Munich, Germany- Schaltbau Group., an electrical equipment manufacturing, proudly introduces the latest addition to its Eddicy portfolio the C803 contactor, purpose-built for e-mobility applications.
This new bidirectional contactor sets a high standard in performance, durability, and efficiency across a variety of use cases including commercial vehicles, off-road machinery, and passenger carscatering to the fast-paced evolution of the electric and industrial vehicle sectors.
Compact yet powerful, the C803 is engineered to deliver exceptional performance in critical systems such as inverters, charging infrastructure, and auxiliary power units. Designed for harsh environments, it’s especially well-suited for rugged off-road and commercial applications, while remaining perfectly compatible with passenger vehicle platforms
The C803 contactor brings a host of advanced features tailored for the demands of modern e-mobility. It offers low thermal losses with a contact resistance of approximately 100 µOhm, minimizing the need for additional cooling and simplifying thermal management. Despite its compact size—under 0.5 kg—it delivers high switching performance, handling up to 1,500V and high switching currents, making it ideal for inverters, charging systems, and auxiliary applications. Designed for rugged environments, the C803 is built to endure 200,000 operations and withstands vibrations in accordance with ISO 16750-3, making it highly suitable for off-road and heavy-duty vehicles like trucks and excavators. Its versatile design supports both vertical and horizontal mounting, ensuring seamless integration across a wide range of EV systems, from industrial machines to passenger cars, while meeting global safety standards.
With a focus on minimizing thermal issues, the C803 is designed to reduce the need for extensive cooling systems, which are often a challenge in e-mobility applications. Its advanced low-loss design ensures excellent efficiency without the need for excessive heat management, providing significant advantages in reducing cooling demands in electric drive systems. This capability is particularly valuable in e-mobility, where optimizing energy efficiency is key to improving overall system performance.
Mr. Helmut Pusch, CEO of Schaltbau GmbH Group, said, “The C803 is unique in how it tackles the most challenging thermal and efficiency problems in the industry—because in high-power switching, heat is the enemy of performance. Engineered for superior thermal management, the C803 minimizes heat buildup, extends operational life, and ensures maximum efficiency even under extreme loads. When every degree matters, the C803 stays cool—so systems run safer, longer, and more reliably.”
The C803 is the latest DC bi-directional/AC contactor in Schaltbau’s Eddicy e-mobility portfolio, joining the C800 and C801 models. Designed for high-voltage EV applications, it offers 1,500V switching voltage and a 500A thermal current rating in a compact design weighing under 0.5 kg.
Built for durability, the C803 operates reliably across 200,000 cycles, withstands vibrations per ISO 16750-3, and functions in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. It features a monostable magnetic drive (12V/24V DC) with internal/external PWM control, and includes a snap-action auxiliary contact (5V/10mA) with a 5-pole connector, compliant with IEC 60947-4-1, Annex F.
