Schmitz Cargobull has upgraded the S.KI LIGHT tipper semi-trailer with a stronger and more maintenance-friendly lightweight aluminium body, improving durability, stability, and ease of cleaning while retaining its low unladen weight.

Horstmar, Germany- Schmitz Cargobull AG., a German manufacturer of semi-trailers, trailers and truck bodies, has extensively redesigned the lightweight aluminium body of its S.KI LIGHT tipper semi-trailer, enhancing robustness, extending service life, and simplifying maintenance while maintaining the model’s low unladen weight.
The updated body continues to benefit from the company’s proven modular design concept, allowing operators to choose an aluminium body tailored to their transport requirements. This includes application-specific solutions such as thermally insulated bodies, as well as versatile configurations suited for a broad range of construction and agricultural operations.
The latest design improvements significantly increase body stability, helping to reduce wear and lower maintenance costs over the vehicle’s lifecycle. Schmitz Cargobull has reworked the upper belt and widened the contact surfaces for the sliding roof, measures that help reduce wear and improve the durability of both the body and roof system. Areas exposed to particularly high stress have also been reinforced to extend maintenance intervals.
A newly developed, more robust floor connection improves structural integrity under heavy load conditions, while an overlapping floor plate further strengthens the overall body rigidity. The rear section has also been functionally redesigned and reinforced to maintain high stability even during demanding day-to-day operations.
Alongside the structural upgrades, Schmitz Cargobull has also improved serviceability and ease of use. The smoother outer surface, designed without ram protection and grooves, reduces dirt build-up and minimizes areas vulnerable to corrosion. Two integrated wear grooves in the floor act as visual maintenance indicators, enabling operators to assess condition more easily. In addition, wider side wall profiles with fewer joints simplify cleaning.
The company has also standardized sliding roof components across both steel and aluminium body variants, making spare parts availability easier and streamlining service support.
For greater application flexibility, the S.KI LIGHT offers different slide gate options tailored to specific operating needs. The agricultural version has been optimized for improved tightness, while the construction-focused version prioritizes ease of cleaning. A range of optional comfort and safety features can also be added, including a pneumatic underride guard, electric sliding roof, onboard weighing system, and other driver assistance technologies.
With these upgrades, the new aluminium body for the S.KI AK LIGHT tipper semi-trailer delivers a more durable, cost-effective, and maintenance-friendly solution for demanding daily operations.
