Horstmar, Germany- Schmitz Cargobull AG., a manufacturer of semi-trailers, trailers and truck bodies, has expanded its trailer portfolio with the launch of the S.BO OPENSIDER, a side-opening dry freight semi-trailer designed to support faster and more efficient loading and unloading operations.
The S.BO OPENSIDER is developed for transport applications where quick access to cargo, flexible loading processes and reduced turnaround time are essential. Based on the previous S. KO folding wall semi-trailer, the new model features fully opening side walls that provide direct access to the load, even in locations where rear access is limited.
This design is particularly useful for urban logistics and high-frequency delivery operations, where loading space and ramp availability can be restricted. By allowing side access to the cargo, the trailer helps reduce downtime at ramps and improves operational efficiency. It also supports better occupational safety by reducing the need for operators to step onto the trailer during loading and unloading.
The S.BO OPENSIDER is offered in multiple configurations to suit different transport requirements. It is available as an EU variant for 4x2 semi-trailer tractors with a 7,700 mm wheelbase and as a Nordic variant for 6x2 semi-trailer tractors with an 8,130 mm wheelbase. Customers can also choose side walls that open on one side or both sides, depending on their application needs.
Safety and reliability remain key focus areas for the new trailer. The FERROPLAST® box body meets DIN EN 12642 Code XL requirements and is designed to protect freight from external influences. The S.BO OPENSIDER also meets EX/III vehicle requirements and is approved for transporting explosive substances and Class 1 goods under ADR regulations.
The trailer can be configured with a range of equipment options, including flexible load-securing solutions, double-decker systems and other specifications for specialised dry freight transport applications.
