      Tamil Nadu - Schwing Stetter India., a construction machinery manufacturer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to drive sustainable advancements in the construction sector. Through this collaboration, Schwing Stetter India has become a Platinum Member of the Technologies for Low Carbon Lean Concrete (TLC2) program and has also joined the Centre of Excellence Advisory Board at IIT Madras.

      Schwing Stetter India’s collaboration with IIT Madras has already yielded significant contributions, including a joint study with Chennai Metro on utilizing construction and demolition waste aggregates in concrete production, with the findings published in a report. This partnership aims to advance energy-efficient and eco-friendly construction methods by bridging academic research with industry practices to foster innovation.

      Mr. V.G. Sakthikumar, Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India, said, “This collaboration is a crucial step toward transforming the Indian construction industry with sustainable solutions. Our joint work with IIT Madras will help drive advancements in low-carbon concrete technologies and meet the growing demand for sustainable materials.”

      Mr. Manu Santhanam, Principal Investigator at the Centre of Excellence, said, “We aim to upgrade existing technologies and develop new methods to extract high-quality materials from waste, such as stones, sand, and reactive concrete fines, ensuring they match the properties of natural materials.”

      This Memorandum of Understanding highlights Schwing Stetter India’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and technological advancement. By fostering innovation in construction solutions, the company continues to play a vital role in supporting India’s infrastructure development while aligning with the nation’s environmental goals.
