Shanghai, China - Same Deutz-Fahr (SDF)., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has inaugurated a new competence center focused on electric platform technologies in Shanghai, China, marking a significant step in strengthening the Group’s global presence and advancing its technological innovation capabilities.

The newly opened facility is designed to enhance local expertise in one of the world’s leading industrial hubs for technological and electrical innovation. It will integrate with SDF’s existing global knowledge base, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation in agricultural mechanization.

The Shanghai center will primarily focus on technological development, with a strong emphasis on electrification — a strategic priority for the future of the agricultural equipment industry. By leveraging its established leadership in the specialized tractor segment, SDF aims to accelerate innovation and maintain its competitive edge in complex market segments.

Building on its in-house electrical engineering capabilities, including those strengthened through the recent acquisition of VitiBot, the competence center will support the Group’s global R&D network in developing advanced solutions. The initiative is expected to foster closer collaboration between international expertise and highly specialized local talent.

Mr. Lodovico Bussolati, CEO of SDF, said, “The inauguration of the new competence center in Shanghai represents a strategic investment for the future of SDF. This hub allows us to get even closer to one of the most dynamic global environments for technological innovation, enhancing high-level local skills and reinforcing the development of electrification solutions, in line with SDF’s ongoing growth and technological integration strategy.”

The Shanghai competence center will operate in close coordination with SDF’s other research and development facilities worldwide, contributing to the creation of sustainable solutions tailored to international market needs and supporting the company’s long-term competitiveness.
