Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, Škoda Auto, a car maker, has introduced the updated Slavia in India, built on the locally developed MQB-A0-IN platform. With nearly 80,000 units sold so far, the sedan remains one of the strong performers in its segment. The latest update brings refreshed styling, new powertrain options and added comfort features, including redesigned LED lighting, an eight-speed automatic transmission for the 1.0 TSI engine and a rear-seat massage function.

Together with the Kylaq and Kushaq SUVs, the Slavia supports Škoda’s locally developed and manufactured product strategy in India. The model is also exported to markets such as Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa, highlighting India’s growing importance as a key production and export hub for Škoda Auto.

Mr. Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, said “India remains one of our most important global growth markets and a great example of what Škoda Auto can achieve when we listen closely to our customers. The new Slavia builds on this approach. It strengthens a model that has become a real success story, earning the trust of customers and establishing itself as one of the best-selling saloons in its segment. This success belongs to our teams, our dealer partners and, above all, our customers. Together, we have built strong momentum. With a clear strategy and a strong local presence, I am confident that we are writing the next chapter of our growth story in India”

Mr. Martin Jahn, Škoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, said “This update of the Slavia is the next step for our well-established and successful saloon for India. With nearly 80,000 sold cars to date, the Slavia has established a strong position in this dynamic segment. Building on its proven qualities, we are introducing targeted improvements in powertrain, comfort and connectivity that further enhance its appeal. We are convinced that the combination of everyday practicality, state-of-the-art technology and outstanding comfort will attract new customers looking for a modern, compelling saloon.”

      Building on Škoda’s Sedan Heritage

Introduced in India in early 2022 after the Kushaq, the Slavia became the second model under Škoda Auto’s highly localised product strategy. Its name reflects the brand’s historic roots, recalling the “Slavia” bicycles produced by founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement in 1896. With nearly 80,000 units sold so far, the Slavia has established itself as one of the leading sedans in its segment. Alongside the Slavia, Škoda currently offers the Octavia RS in India, while the Superb is expected to return in 2027.

Refreshed Styling and Monte Carlo Edition

The updated Slavia receives a sharper exterior design along with new technology and comfort upgrades. Key changes include redesigned LED headlamps, new LED taillamps with sequential rear indicators and fresh alloy-wheel designs. New interior colour themes further enhance the cabin. The Monte Carlo variant adds a sportier character through dual-tone exterior finishes, black styling elements, dedicated badging and design details inspired by Škoda’s motorsport heritage.

      New Eight-Speed Automatic Transmission

Škoda continues to offer its established TSI petrol engines with the updated Slavia. The 1.0-litre TSI now gains a segment-first eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, while a six-speed manual remains available. The more powerful 1.5-litre TSI continues with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and now also benefits from rear disc brakes.

      Improved Comfort and Connected Technology

The updated Slavia introduces several new convenience features, including a segment-first rear-seat massage function. A 360-degree Area View camera, front parking sensors and a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit further improve everyday usability.

Its 10.1-inch infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and incorporates an AI Companion powered by Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent. Designed to understand Indian English accents, the system enables voice-based access to information and hands-free control of functions such as music, phone calls and climate settings.

      Strong Focus on Safety

The Slavia has secured a five-star Global NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection. More than 25 active and passive safety features are offered across the range, including six airbags as standard.

Additional equipment such as rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, a rear wiper and demister, an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror and anti-glare exterior mirrors further improve visibility and driver confidence. Together, these features strengthen Škoda Auto’s focus on delivering high levels of safety across its India portfolio.
