Bretagne, France - SKY Agriculture., an agricultural equipment manufacturer, has unveiled the Sonic, a next-generation precision planter designed to deliver high-speed seeding with unmatched accuracy and adaptability.
Equipped with Precision Planting distribution technology, Sonic ensures seed placement accuracy above 99% even at speeds over 12 km/h. Its optimized vacuum system handles light seeds such as oilseed rape, sunflower, and sugar beet, while hydraulic downforce of up to 350 kg per row unit guarantees stability in challenging conditions. A retractable press wheel adds flexibility, particularly on wet soils.
In RowMotion technology, row spacing can be adjusted directly in the field, allowing quick transitions between crops - such as planting maize at 75 cm in the morning and soybeans at 50 cm in the afternoon, without disassembling row units. The reduced 9° double-disc angle further minimizes soil disturbance, helping to suppress weeds and preserve soil moisture.
Standard features include rotary residue managers, turbo discs for direct seeding, dual micro applicators, full ISOBUS compatibility, and six types of closing wheels. Available in 6 to 12-row versions, the planter comes in both telescopic (6–9 rows) and folding (8–12 rows) configurations, with the option to hydraulically lift individual row units.
Fertiliser options include an integrated hopper, SKY Agriculture’s Progress TF front hopper, or the trailed Maxidrill, which allows quick switching between cereal seeding and precision planting.
With Sonic, SKY Agriculture aims to combine speed, precision, and versatility, offering farmers a powerful tool for sustainable and resilient crop production.
