Solaris Secures Major E-Bus Order in Ostrava

Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poland, Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., has signed a contract with Dopravní podnik Ostrava a.s. to supply up to 70 units of Urbino 12 electric buses, following its successful bid in a major electric bus tender in the Czech Republic. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027 and 2028, with the first vehicles expected to enter service in Ostrava as early as 2027.

The agreement represents one of the largest electric bus procurements completed in the Czech Republic and one of the biggest vehicle purchases undertaken by the Ostrava public transport operator.

The order includes two variants of the 12-metre battery-electric Urbino 12, each designed for different operational requirements. One version will offer a driving range of up to 350 kilometres on a single charge, while the second will provide a range of up to 250 kilometres. The two configurations will enable the operator to select vehicles according to route length, duty cycles and daily transport requirements.

Charging will be carried out through plug-in connections, primarily during overnight depot stops. The buses will also be equipped with air conditioning, advanced safety systems and passenger-comfort features designed to support reliable and efficient daily operations.
