Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poland- Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., a commercial vehicle manufacturer, has secured a major order to supply eight 18-meter hydrogen buses to Belfort, France. The buses, featuring advanced hydrogen systems and modular drives, are set to be delivered in late 2025. The contract was signed with SMTC (Le Syndicat Mixte des Transports en Commun du Territoire de Belfort), and the Régie des Transports du Territoire de Belfort (RTTB) will operate them.

Mr. Brice Bonavia, Managing Director of Solaris France, said, ‘We are extremely proud to collaborate with SMTC in Belfort and to supply the city with the high-tech, zero-emission hydrogen buses. The Urbino 18 hydrogen are not only an innovative means of transport but also a step towards a sustainable future. Thanks to the new Solaris buses, the residents of Belfort will be able to enjoy cleaner air and modern, reliable public transport.’

Belfort's new buses are equipped with advanced hydrogen technology, including a 100 kW fuel cell, 50+ kg composite hydrogen tanks, and Solaris High Power batteries. Powered by a 240 kW electric motor, they feature a modular drive system that maximizes space and capacity. The buses adhere to GSR2 standards with a blind-spot alert system and include high-efficiency air conditioning with a heat pump and the eSConnect fleet management system.
