Urbino 12 hydrogen bus at the European Mobility Expo in Strasbourg (October 1-3, 2024). With a 15.2% market share, Solaris recently launched the Urbino 18 and 12 electric models.
Date: October 5, 2024Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poland- Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., a commercial vehicle manufacture, is showcasing its zero-emission Urbino 12 hydrogen bus at the European Mobility Expo in Strasbourg (October 1-3, 2024). In 2023 Solaris market with a 15.2% share of the electric and hydrogen bus segment. Their portfolio features 12- and 18-meter hydrogen buses, as well as electric buses in five lengths, all customizable. Solaris also offers a range of battery options, charging systems, and after-sales services. To date, they've delivered 2,800 zero-emission buses to 215 cities across Europe.
In recent months, Solaris premiered the Urbino 18 and Urbino 12 electric buses, featuring new drivetrain architecture and the latest batteries. By removing the traditional engine tower, these models offer more passenger space and a range of up to 600 km (eSORT2 test). Solaris also leads the European hydrogen-powered bus market, with 44.5% of registrations in 2023. Their Urbino 18 hydrogen bus, named Bus of the Year 2025, is the first hydrogen vehicle to earn this title. Solaris is showcasing its hydrogen bus at the European Mobility Expo amid rising interest in hydrogen technology.
On display at this year’s EuMo is the Urbino 12 hydrogen bus, customized for Rebus Regionalbus Rostock in Germany. It features a 70kW hydrogen cell, five 37.5 kg hydrogen tanks, a 30 kWh Solaris High Power traction battery, and a 160kW electric motor. With a CO2 heat pump and a range of up to 600 km per refuel (eSORT2 test), the bus refuels in just minutes, offering operators flexibility and efficiency.
Over 260 Urbino hydrogen buses are in operation across 25 European cities, with orders for an additional 600 vehicles, including from French operators like Artois Mobilités and Île-de-France Mobilités. Solaris will showcase its hydrogen buses at booth 7 in Hall 1 during the EuMo exhibition in Strasbourg from October 1-3.
