Owińska, Poland- Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., has signed a contract with Dopravní podnik města Olomouce, the public transport operator in Olomouc, Czech Republic, to supply 20 battery-electric buses. The order includes 10 units of Urbino 12 electric buses and 10 units of articulated Urbino 18 electric buses, with deliveries scheduled for 2028.
The agreement also includes an option for an additional 20 vehicles, comprising 15 twelve-metre electric buses and five articulated models. If exercised, the total order could increase to 40 Solaris electric buses.
The new buses will use Solaris’s modular drive architecture, which removes the traditional engine tower to create more passenger space and simplify servicing. They will also comply with GSR2 requirements and feature advanced driver assistance systems, including blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and driver fatigue monitoring.
Solaris has a long-standing partnership with the Olomouc operator and has already delivered 96 buses to the city. The latest contract will introduce the first Solaris electric buses into the operator’s fleet.
