Bolechowo-Osiedle- Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., has secured another major electric bus order in Sweden, strengthening its partnership with transport operator VR Sverige and expanding its presence in Stockholm’s zero-emission public transport network.
Under the new contract, Solaris will deliver 101 electric buses to VR Sverige. The order includes a wide range of models: 5 Urbino 9 LE electric buses, 47 Urbino 12 electric buses with modular drive, 22 Urbino 15 LE electric buses, and 27 Urbino 18 electric buses with modular drive. These vehicles will operate in Stockholm, supporting the city’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable urban mobility.
The latest order follows another large contract awarded in 2025, under which Solaris is already delivering 81 Urbino 15 LE electric buses to VR Sverige. Together, the two orders highlight the growing confidence of Swedish operators in Solaris’ electric bus technology and service capabilities.
Mr. Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Sverige AB, said the continued cooperation with VR Sverige is an important milestone for Solaris, as it strengthens the company’s foothold in the Swedish capital. He added that the partnership reflects VR Sverige’s trust in Solaris and the company’s long-term commitment to delivering high-quality public transport solutions in Sweden.
VR Sverige also described the order as a key step toward sustainable and electrified bus transport. According to Anders Frykman, Bus Director at VR Sverige, the new electric buses will help reduce emissions, support the operator’s environmental goals, and provide reliable, high-quality services while improving safety and working conditions for drivers and maintenance teams.
The buses will be equipped with efficient electric drivetrains and Solaris High Energy battery packs, with battery capacity tailored to each model and route requirement. This will allow the vehicles to operate throughout the day without the need for intermediate charging. Passenger comfort will also be supported through air conditioning, passenger information systems, and advanced driver assistance features.
