Stellantis Launches Third All-New, Multi-energy Platform: STLA Frame Offers Best-in-Class 690-Mile Electrified Range or 500-Mile BEV Range, Towing and Payload
Date: November 23, 2024Amsterdam, Netherland- Stellantis N.V., has introduced the STLA Frame platform, a BEV-native, multi-energy architecture for full-size body-on-frame trucks and SUVs, targeting key markets like North America. Designed for durability and performance, it offers up to 690 miles (1,100 km) range with REEV and 500 miles (800 km) as a BEV, plus impressive capabilities: 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) towing, 2,700 lbs (1,224 kg) payload, and 24-inch (610 mm) water fording.
The platform supports BEV, REEV, and future propulsion options, including ICE, hybrids, and hydrogen. The REEV system integrates battery, electric drive modules (EDMs), and an on-board generator, enabling heavy-duty towing and hauling with extended range and the dynamic torque of electric motors.
Mr. Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO, said, “Like STLA Medium and STLA Large, STLA Frame combines an unprecedented range with new levels of capability and performance to offer best-in-class range, payload and towing for our customers who need reliable and powerful trucks and SUVs, to haul their families or power their businesses. With full EV and extended-range EV tech coming soon, we’re bringing ‘no compromise’ solutions to buyers who may be hesitant on trying their first electric vehicle. We’re proud of this engineering marvel and look forward to seeing it come to life in our upcoming product blitz on Jeep and Ram.”
The STLA Frame platform, crafted from advanced high-strength steel, offers enhanced durability and rigidity while reducing weight. Its widened center houses liquid-cooled battery packs (159–200+ kWh) with reinforced frame rails for side-impact protection. A full-length belly pan improves aerodynamics, boosting efficiency and range.
Engineered for up to 500 miles (800 km) in BEV and 690 miles (1,100 km) in REEV configurations, it supports future energy storage advancements. Stellantis-designed front and rear 250 kW EDMs enable AWD, 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and flexible suspension systems ensure a smooth ride across varied conditions.
STLA Frame Highlights:
Dimensions: Length 216–234 in (5,488–5,941 mm), Width 81.2–83.6 in (2,062–2,124 mm), Wheelbase 123.7–145.3 in (3,143–3,690 mm), Ground clearance 6.6–10.3 in (168–262 mm), Max tire diameter ~33 in (838 mm).
Charging & Power: Supports 800V fast charging, adding 100 miles in 10 minutes (BEV), or 50 miles with 400V fast charging (REEV). Bi-directional charging powers other EVs, homes, or the grid.
Flexibility: Designed for BEV, REEV, and multi-energy use, with interchangeable components and future-ready tech.
Dare Forward 2030 Goals: Stellantis aims for 100% BEV in Europe and 50% in the U.S. by 2030, backed by €50B in electrification investment.
