Date: February 10, 2025New Jersey, United States- Subaru of America Inc.v has introduced the 2025 Forester Hybrid at the Chicago Auto Show, marking the brand’s first hybrid SUV for the U.S. market. This next-generation model features a series-parallel hybrid system that pairs a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine with electric motors and Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Delivering 194 horsepower, the hybrid SUV boasts up to 40% improved fuel efficiency, achieving an EPA-estimated 35 mpg combined and offering a range of up to 581 miles per tank.
The Forester Hybrid starts at $34,995 and is set to arrive in spring 2025. Designed for a balance of SUV capability and smooth on-road handling, it comes standard with X-MODE Dual Mode, Hill Descent Control, Active Torque Vectoring, and Vehicle Dynamics Control. With 8.7 inches of ground clearance—greater than many SUVs—it maintains a low step-in height for easy access.
Using Subaru’s latest hybrid technology, the Forester Hybrid features a newly developed 2.5-liter Atkinson/Miller-cycle SUBARU BOXER engine paired with an electric motor generator and electric traction motor. The system seamlessly transitions between electric power, engine power, or a combination of both, ensuring efficiency without compromising performance. The high-capacity, sealed lithium-ion battery enhances overall efficiency, improving city fuel economy by up to 40% and combined fuel economy by up to 25% compared to the non-hybrid model.
Safety remains a priority with the latest version of Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, now offering a wider field of view, updated control software, and an electric brake booster. EyeSight can detect cyclists and pedestrians at intersections sooner, issuing alerts and applying brakes when necessary. Additional safety features include Reverse Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The Forester Hybrid also introduces Emergency Stop Assist, which can stop the vehicle, activate hazard lights, unlock doors, and contact emergency services if the driver becomes unresponsive while using Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control.
Inside, the 2025 Forester Hybrid features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with navigation and Apple Maps compatibility, alongside an 11.6-inch high-resolution Subaru Multimedia Navigation system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system serves as a central information hub with controls for audio, climate, and vehicle functions. Additional tech features include Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a rear vision camera, SiriusXM All-Access Radio with a four-month free Platinum Plan, HD Radio, and over-the-air updates.
The Forester Hybrid debuts an exclusive Daybreak Blue Pearl exterior color, with select trims offering a contrasting Crystal Black Silica roof. HYBRID badging adorns the fenders and power rear gate, while the interior is available with high-durability, animal-free StarTex upholstery on select trims.
The 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid blends capability, efficiency, and advanced technology, setting a new benchmark for hybrid SUVs in its class.
