Haryana - Suzuki Motor Corporation., an automobiles manufacturer, has formed strategic partnerships with Tata Autocomp Gotion Green Energy Solutions Private Limited., a joint venture between Tata Autocomp Systems and Gotion China, TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Gujarat Private Limited., a lithium-ion batteries manufacturer, FinDreams Battery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of BYD, and Eliiy Power Co. Ltd., a lithium-ion batteries manufacturer, to ensure a stable and sustainable battery supply for future operations.
These partnerships will support Suzuki Motor’s electric mobility expansion and diversify its procurement strategy. They enhance the supply chain and accelerate electrification across segments, with each partner specializing in batteries for specific vehicle applications.
Tata Gotion supplies batteries for electric motorcycles, while TDSG provides lithium-ion batteries for mild and strong hybrid cars. FinDreams Battery supports Suzuki’s BEV production with a stable battery supply.
Suzuki and ELIIY Power are setting up a battery R&D center at the Kawasaki Plant to advance in-house production of domestic batteries. Suzuki aims to secure high-quality batteries through partnerships while preparing for future demand with joint development efforts.
Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor, said, “The company is committed to its technology strategy of energy minimization, lean battery, and efficient battery reuse system by optimizing battery procurement based on regional production conditions. Additionally, there is a focus on enhancing localization in India to align with the expanding electric vehicle market. India will be a global production hub for Suzuki electric vehicles…India will also be the export hub for hybrid vehicles.”
Suzuki is localizing production to meet domestic demand and boost exports, expanding its supply chain with new plants in Kharkhoda and Gujarat. Strategic investments and partnerships reinforce its global electrification plans for a sustainable transition to electric mobility. Suzuki plans to develop high-safety, durable batteries for mobility and storage applications. It is also exploring a battery factory and in-house material procurement to boost self-sufficiency and competitiveness in the EV market.
